Canaries, Spain From Gibraltar to Lanzarote 16/11/2015 SheSanBlog Leave a comment going over to Gibraltar you have to cross the runway of Gibraltar, when there is air traffic, it just gets closed and everyone has to wait we definitely feel being in United Kingdom: God save the Queen! the streets look rather english than spanish nice saying in the Irish pub, good for sailors who just went through the Med this year… 😉 my “little” sister Flavia and her boy friend Sebastian are the first visit from home on board and help stock up the essentials on board 😉 the Gibraltar Rock finally without cloads when it is time to go in the middle of the Gibraltar straight, with many boats around us – and even though both engines are running we only make 4 knots in average due to the counter current against us the first sunset not far away from Tanger one of the nice big ones who corrected his course by himself in order to avoid collision with us the Calamar that jumped on board the Royal Clipper seemed curious and came close to us … jesus, that is a heavy piece of fish !! I did find the teeth a bit unusual for a thuna damn and that fin ? as a result, a hopefully happy again thuna and a broken fishing rod approaching the Estrecho del Rio, to the left Lanzarote and to the right La Graciosa Punta Farlones, the most northern part of Lanzarote after 5 days and 608 miles we happily arrived – and of course we had one or two Cruzcampo to celebrate 😉 Heide and Pete in front of the ajuntamento of Arrecife family meeting, in the back the bay of Arrecife old harbour the view down from the Grand Hotel to the beach in the south the Charco de San Gines with many coulorful boats in the Timanfaya national park everywhere volcano cones and interesting lava sculptures creative and also delicious Pintxos Los Hervideros – that does look like the atlantic ocean ! so we test some of that wine that grows here in such difficult conditions Pete trains us on the Lotus grill and it does taste fine!!! finally again on the bike 😉 Ermite de las Nieves almost on top View down to Arrieta and Punta Mujeres the sculptures that are supposed to be set into the sea
